Momma Jackie’s Easy Chili 🌶️

Ingredients

  • 1 - 2 lbs ground beef, turkey, chicken, cubed beef chuck, or chorizo
  • 1 large onion or shallot chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 tsp each of chili powder, cumin and smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 
  • 1 diced tomato (fresh or canned)
  • 1 can tomato purée
  • 3 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 cans kidney beans
  • Optional ⅛ teaspoonred pepper flakes


Directions

  1. In a large pot, brown the chopped onion or shallot, garlic and meat. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato purée, tomato paste, and beef broth.
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients.
  4. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  5. Taste and adjust salt and pepper


Serve with: shredded cheese, chopped cilantro, my homemade garlic bread recipe or corn chips.
